CXI IT

The CXI IT™ offers the legendary dual scroller color mixing you've come to trust &ndash but now with the security of feedback with Infotrace, the feedback system built with the industry-standard communication protocol Remote Device Management, or RDM.

Two scrolling gelstrings in cyan, magenta and yellow can be combined to create 432 distinct colors. Gelstring position is controlled by a standard lighting console using DMX512, and the fader positions are proportional to the gel position, allowing partial frames to be used. And with partial frames on a light that integrates the color, a nearly infinite palette of colors is available.

For extended gel life, a 3-speed fan is included, with three settings – off, low, and normal – controlled remotely from the console or laptop.

When you pair the CXI IT with Infotrace, you can:

  • Remotely set DMX addresses – no more setting DIP switches manually
  • Immediately receive an alert if a lamp goes out
  • Know the condition of equipment before, during, and after a show
  • Track lamp duty cycles to predict lamp failure before it happens
  • Predict maintenance on equipment
  • Predict gel replacement prior to degradation
... and much more.

CXI IT comes equipped with a series of sensors that relay a wealth of information directly to a laptop via Infogate software, the heart of the Infotrace system. These sensors can detect everything from light, temperature, and voltage to fan speed and even gelstring frame color information. They can collect and share specific status information and even warn of potential problems, possibly averting failures in the middle of a show. If the status of a device indicates a problem, Infogate displays an alert with the nature of the problem and its exact location, helping you troubleshoot in a fraction of the time.

CXI IT's Feedback Sensors:

  • Aperture Light Sensor: Detects if the fixture's lamp is on
  • Unit Temperature Sensor: Measures and reports the temperature within the center panel
  • Voltage Sensor: Sensor that reports the head voltage level
  • Pass Through Current Sensor: Measures the current passing through the XLR connector wiring harness
  • Unit Current Sensor: Measures the amount of current that a unit is consuming
  • Timers: Keep track of how many hours the unit has been operated since its last maintenance cycle
  • Fan RPM Sensor: RPM sensor on fan
  • Self Test Mode: Mode that moves the gelstring without any DMX input command
  • Reverse Polarity Protection: Auto shutdown if scroller is plugged into a Coloram II power supply
  • Gel Color Reader: Sensor that reads digital information off of the gelstring
  • Gel Wear Counter: Keeps track of gelstring movement and provides a gelstring replacement alert
  • Gel Temperature Sensor: Approximates and reports the temperature of the gel
  • "Gelstring is broken" Sensor: Detects if the gelstring is broken after gelstring initialization
  • Motor shutdown if gelstring is broken or comes loose from a roller

CXI IT's Alert Warnings:

  • Fan Stopped
  • High Motor Current
  • Fan Off and Lamp On
  • Unit Cleaning Period Reached
  • Light Not Detected
  • Init Fail
  • Low Voltage Alert
  • Low Voltage Unit Shutdown
  • Roller Stuck Unit Shutdown
  • Gelstring Replacement Period Reached

With so much information available through Infotrace, it's now possible to know more about the health and status of your color changers than ever before.

All CXI ITs use the same family of PS Power Supplies in 150, 300, or 600 watts. These RDM-compatible power supplies provide power and signal to each head in one combined cable for ease of wiring. Each head has an in and out for daisy-chaining together, making setup easier. Complete diagnostic information can be delivered to your laptop in real time.

Use your iPhone or iPod touch to find the perfect color for your CXI and get the numerical values necessary to generate it on stage with the CXI COLOR CALCULATOR.
