NEXERA Goes To High School

Imagine it's your first lighting project for your high school production, and at the last minute the director decides that the shade of blue you picked for that scene in ACT I isn't going to work. This might be a problem in a regular high school, but not for students at Richland Northeast High School in Columbia, SC.

In January, the Richland District Two Auditorium, which sits on the campus of Richland Northeast High School, installed 15 Nexera Wash luminaires to highlight their productions. Now, changing gel has become a thing of the past. This theatre hosts hundreds of productions for not only the high school, but the other 26 schools in its district, as well as the surrounding community. "Since most of our shows are back to back and have little or no setup time, the Nexeras have given us more creative freedom than before," says Tony Fling, Theatre Technician.

"The Nexera colors are also more vibrant than that of standard gel and have brought new life to a lot of shows done at the District Auditorium. Since most of our shows happen with no rehearsals, and the stage manager or director is deciding the look for a scene literally seconds before it starts, we can now make any color they want happen in a moment's notice."

Fling continues, "Wybron has given us the ability to better serve our clients and has saved us time and money. With no need to replace gels, and no need for hanging multiple washes per show, we have more time to make our numerous shows better for the performers and the audience that is watching."

The Nexera is a favorite among lighting designers and technical crews, with its precision dichroic color mixing and easy operation. Best of all, Nexera is convection cooled, meaning no fans and whisper quiet operation. Nexera is bright, efficient, and offers an endless array of colors. Combining Wybron's legendary reliability with low cost, Nexeras are fast becoming a favorite in small theatres and churches, in addition to pro stages worldwide.
